SparkFun Inventor's Kit for Photon Experiment Guide

September 3, 2015

Dive into the world of the Internet of Things with the SparkFun Inventor's Kit for Photon.
  • Default Baudrate is 9600. In case you are trying to send it commands (such as entering SPP mode).

  • Hi there!

    Yes, the description (should be changed soon) should say EM-506. Our GPS Shield Kit even ships with the EM-506.

  • To upload to the newly released version, Arduino 1.6, use these settings:

    Board: “Mega or Mega 2560” Processor: “ATmega 2560”

  • Some of the grids (usually bottom) have only 7 lines, instead of 8.

  • Seconded. Make sure the battery has an adequate discharge rating, and more importantly, a protection circuit. Otherwise you can cause a battery to vent, or worse – explode. More information here.

  • Depending on your Motor Controller this could be enough. If you are to use a T'rex Motor Controller with the low voltage jumper enabled, it will work.

    If you have more questions about batteries and RC applications, here’s a good resource: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209187

    Even though it’s specifically about LiPo batteries, the fundamentals are basically the same. The Key characteristics to keep in mind are the voltage ratings (V), Amp capacity (mAh), and discharge rate [ C ].

  • How to connect:

    Spring = Ground

    Metal Body = Positive

  • My favorite kinds of wire strippers also. Good taste!

  • You’d be surprised how many mimicking products we run into on other website retailers. If you’re looking to buy a genuine Sparkfun product from somewhere else, but you’re unsure whether it’s from us or not – you can always give us a holler at techsupport@sparkfun.com
