  • TN, RN, and SN are NOT "___ Negative". The N stands for "Normal", as shown in the schematic.

    This breakout is useful for TRS jacks with the capacity to pass-through a signal but to break in a different signal upon insertion of the 1/4" (NOT 1.4", that would be huge) plug (building your own patch panels, for example).

    Of course, you can use this to break out a normal 1/4" Stereo jack by just wiring the T, R, and S points and ignoring the others.
