Looks promising. When will the AT command reference be published? Couldn't find it on Rayson's site either.
I don't believe so - you only get the date and local time on network registration, which requires a valid SIM card.
If you just need date/time, a GPS receiver would also work. It's cheaper and would have better outside coverage, although less coverage indoors.
Thanks for the follow-up! So what kind of range are you talking about? 10/30/100ft? Is that line of sight, inside a building, etc? I'd like to know how suitable this chipset and antenna would be for some home automation scenarios.

The photos for this device show incorrect dimensions - the module is actually 15x19mm, so less than an inch on each side.
