May I also request that sparkfun folks post this doc (or at least a link to it) up top next to the datasheet and other docs? I think it should definitely be on the BC127 SMD page at least.
Got it. I connected my 3.3v source to: one of the 3.3v pins, the positive battery pin (bottom pin) on JST connector JP6, and also to the VCC pin on the FTDI->PC header. The module powered on.
It looks like this board is using a MIC5219 regulator to get 3.3v. From the datasheet for this regulator http://www.micrel.com/_PDF/mic5219.pdf it looks like it can take +2.5 to +12v input. Do you think it would be safe to power it with +12v on the VCC pin on the FTDI->PC header?
