$35? This should be at least 10 dollars cheaper.

Pro tip: when building potentially self aware robots, wear a helmet.

Getting tied into a single vendor or system for anything is bad. NI (the people who write LabView) seem to like making people dependent on using their gear and software. I would never hire someone who’s answer was always going to be “use LabView” because that’s all they have ever known. I’m OK with it being an option, and it has its uses.

LabView frustrates many classically trained programmers and embedded systems people. Some of them like it. I personally don’t think it is worth the hype, especially for the price.

    Good to know.

Hmm…. Drop, snap, break? No more robot?

You know, a decent multimeter is worth its weight in gold. I personally own an Extech 330 (~$50) and an Agilent U1242A (~$250). I’d strongly encourage anyone, even those getting started, to spend at least $50 on a meter – after doing some research to ensure it is a quality product.

Agreed… The wavelength would be good to list. Maybe even a datasheet? :-P

Yeah, I read through these. Scary stuff. I’ve got some of this solder and I’m probably not going to use it now.
I sent them an email asking for the MSDS sheets (post them?), however, I bet this, like many things on their site, is sourced from some shady place in asia that is not required to provide safety information.

Edit: They emailed me and posted it. Props.
