  • I have no issues running the Arduino Basic example and get ~128DN on the Z-axis which corresponds to 1g. When I modified the example code to switch to +/-8g, I get nearly 0 DN on all axis and once every 100 measurements I see a 256 DN. All I changed was line 38 from 0x01 to 0x10. Has anyone seen this problem?

  • That’s very myoptic of you, Nate. Open Hardware works for your business because you don’t have a lot of intellectual property. But try betting the entire company on developing something brand new only to have the Chinese steal it and sell it below what you can recoup the development costs. It cost over $10B for Boeing to develop the 787. How is Boeing going to recoup that if they open up their drawings to everyone?

I agree that the patent process needs reforming. Some companies patent an idea with no understanding of how to build the product and it blocks others who can turn the idea into a product

  • Deleted.

  • Yo Sparkfun! Accelerometers can't accurately measure movement unless they are rigidly connected to the thing that is moving. Please put mounting holes on all accel breakout boards! Preferably 4 of them so the accel is not cantilevered!

  • SF has gone to the dogs!

  • I'm anxiously awaiting for it too! They're out of stock, so maybe they're working on the new rev and not making more old revs.

  • When I connect this to my Logomatic board, the Logomatic flips out (such as dropping the USB connection to my computer). It's almost as if it's drawing too much current although my current meter only shows 2mA. Anyone else have this problem?

  • I can log data and see the config file on my SD card. But when I try to upload new firmware, it doesn't reprogram (and it removes the FW.SFE file from the card). I've formatted the card to FAT16 using Windows XP and another piece of software listed in a link on the bootloader tutorial. Anybody solved this issue? Thanks!

  • As others have mentioned, you have to format the card to FAT16. Windows 7 won't do it, but XP will. Just select FAT and Default file size under the format menu.

  • Yep. RTFM.
