  • This wouldn't prevent tinkering, the coating comes off easy enough with an Xacto blade and, unlike some coatings, it's clear which allows for reading labels on the board.

  • They're not "a bit" pricier than other options. It's literally more expensive than 8020 aluminum extrusion, and 8020 is already viewed as one of the most expensive options out there. I literally didn't even think that it was possible to get more expensive than 8020. Holy cow.

  • The price for these is actually quite reasonable. Mecanum wheels are atrociously expensive and it has nothing to do with markup. It has to do with demand and complexity.

  • "Battery life: 40 hours of continuous use (with auto-off)"
If it's continuous use then why does it need auto-off?

  • "there might be fewer complainers if the potential experience ("you'll have to sit and hit reload quite a bit") were explained up front."
That's exactly the case. This was billed as a "it'll be slow, but it's first come first serve" situation. This was NOT first come first serve but, in fact, completely random. If it was advertised as "This will be random, it has nothing to do with when you click the "checkout" button, the servers will NOT process you in first come first serve order" then I'd have no problem with this whatsoever. If it's a lottery, then tell us it's a lottery. We're not complaining that we didn't get free stuff, we're complaining that you misrepresented what this actually was.

  • That's a negative on the location. I'm not 2 miles from sparcfun and it didn't work for me.

  • "Our servers barely stayed up!"
Your servers effectively DIDN'T stay up. It took me 15 minutes from 8:50 to 9:15 to log in. Another 7 minutes and I couldn't even open my shopping cart. I gave up then because I knew there were at least another 5 screens to go through. It seems like some people tried for almost 2 hours with the same results as I.
Look guys, this was a great idea but someone in your IT dept. should have known that this was going to happen. This was done quite irresponsibly. Promoting everyone to use the website at the exact same time when you know your servers/connection can't handle the strain. That's only going to cause people to become upset with you.
Other commenters, no, I'm not upset when I don't win the lottery, but that's not the case here. This was billed as "log on at 9:00, the site will be pretty slow, but it'll get through, and you'll get $100 of free stuff as long as you're early about it". Instead it should have been, "log on at 9:00 and sit at your computer re-entering the same information for over an hour and a half and you MIGHT get something".

  • The only problem is that 90% of the general populous wouldn't know what to look for. You could still put this stuff in there and it would work for almost as long.
Anyway, I don't know about you guys, but I found the picture freaking hilarious. I certainly don't condone doing anything illegal with the products here, but I'm the kind of person that would try to obtain a higher quality image of this, make a huge poster of it and put it on the wall if I worked there.
I'm glad to see that you guys aren't freaking out over this and requiring everyone to sign their life and privacy away to buy a bluetooth chip or similar nonsense. That probably sounds like a backhanded compliment (i.e. "you aren't acting like the gestapo"), but I really mean it. I'm glad you're taking this sensibly.

No public wish lists :(
