    Requires a LED and driver you can buy here, and a little fan from Digikey. If you don’t have a 3D printer I’m willing to print out a copy for you. See the end of my post.

  • If you are handy with AVR studio and a programmer, you can control up to 12 individual LEDs with this by charlieplexing. I wrote code to show you: https://github.com/madsci1016/LilyCharlieTwinkle

    Basic animation is just an expanded twinkle pattern across all 12 LEDs. You can use Vixen to easily create your own effect or even custom animations.

  • I’ve been a customer for 3 years, written libraries for Sparkfun products, and spent about $2k on gear from you guys and I’d be very happy if you took the prize money and spent it on education programs instead. I’m very passionate about education (see www.sciencebrothers.org) and belive it’s a very worthy cause.

    Classes are a good start but have you considered a grant program? Let schools/programs apply for ‘grants’ in education kits, etc?

  • I can second and third your dislike for the Venus GPS. A coworker and I bought a few two years ago. They were terrible, so very very bad. We both trashed them for a $100 uBlox and never looked back. Almost as good as the $$$ Novatel receivers I use at work.

    You do not need to edit the SdFat/Sd2PinMap.h file at all. Just include the SD CS pin (9) as the second argument in the card.init(SPI_FULL_SPEED, 9) function call.
