  • The underdash connector, which is also known as the Assembly Line Data Link (ALDL) has a nominal 12 volt (battery) terminal which is hot at all times, even if the engine is off and (in most vehicles) the cigarette lighter outlet is powered off. And the OBD-II-UART is powered from the vehicle. Can’t the Arduino likewise be powered from that 12 volt source (through a regulated DC to DC converter)?
