  • Looking at the Full Adder truth table, I thought it was weird, so I jotted it down, confirmed it was weird, then compared to other sourced just to make sure I wasn't crazy. There where three rows in it that where right, a few repeated input rows (with different results?!), and it was incomplete.

  • Of course, NOW you post the Papilio, after I had to spend my Freeday Credits. I was holding out until the last day, hoping you would post some FPGA board. Oh well :P

  • I'd be interested in knowing which part of the site was the bottleneck. I did a few ping tests at various points, and it seemed that they where being returned just as fast as normal, although even my browser connecting to the site wasn't reliable.
    Also, while Apache might have been using all of your CPU power (based on the htop screenshot), might there have been a bottleneck in some particular task, such as SSL, disk reading/writing, or some such?
    So, while your custom DDOS attack did uncover issues, a postmortem might show what happened. It did seem to have a different feel for how it was failing as compared to last year.

  • Thank you for the ISP tutorial. I've looked into this a few times a while back (having AVRs and no programmer), but instructions typically involved buying a shield to do it, or a very old, hacked sketch. This is just what I was looking for. Now to go make use of these spare AVRs.

    Oh, and a cyborg cat would either dominate both the competition and the world, or else would get utterly distracted. Either way, I think the choice not to go with that avoided disaster. :)

  • In the descriptions of the 7 segment controllers, there are links that seem like they should be to the actual displays, but they link to the master controller (even the one on the master controller's page).
