    People shouldn’t do a robot’s job…
Imagine soldering cables all day long. It’s better than cleaning toilets, but still, it’s a job that should be done by machines…

It’s flux, but I don’t know if it can be used to solder electronics. I have something similar from dealextreme. It says it’s PH7 and noncorosive, but when I put a PH indicator strip in it it says PH4. It did not corrode the board I used it on though, but I won’t use it any more.
Any idea what it is? Chemically?

    vallen:

How was it a “Great Event” when 90% of these posters were getting a Grey “loading page”??
Because it is unique. No shop, no website, gives away .15M to its visitors.
Others might make a tv commercial that’s only funny once, and annoying after you’ve seen it twice. Sparkfun holds a geek-style lottery of “who has the lucky-est internet connection” while loadtesting their servers while rewarding their long time customers. And they (should) get a lot of attention by doing so.

To all that got $0 and are posting their disappointment:
C'mon, it still was a great event.
I even answered one question (twice! I got the same question twice), and the answer never reached the server… (and might very well have been wrong, in all the excitement. 6K does not exist (in E12), and 60K is 10 times more energy saving, but not too good in a noisy environment…)
So I got a cool $0, but it was fun to be part of the event.
Please keep doing this every year sparkfun!

Wow, your new servers sure have more power! 6 minutes to go, and after a few “something broke” screens I successfully logged in.
I hope it holds… That speech recognition module is really cool ;)

It’s rainy weather (I live in the Netherlands)… Mailman arives with a little red box…
The box contains the IR sensor and the “Ding or Dent” I ordered.
I got a ITG3200 breakoutboard! (Still have to test it)
Little red boxes, great for rainy days, even better in sunshine!

Wow! Wish I lived somewhere close to a semiconductor manufacturer. Really cool what you have done to figure out what it is, instead of an Atmega.
Some other cool things you could do with this chip:
1)Building a working switcher around it (if possible, with all the bugs in pre-release material)
2)Catching the criminals that sold these chips to the one that sold them to the one that sold them to the one that sold them to you.
3)Richard Hart’s idea of encasing them in plastic. The chips that is, not the criminals. Yeah, them too maybe, but shipping gets a bit expensive if you wanted to sell them as keychains or something. Plus I doubt it’s legal…
4)And write a good story about it. O, you already did that…

Hmm, there is a “of” and a “like” missing in my comments…
I hope sparkfun made a lot of profit because of this action… …So they will repeat (an improved** version) of it. Annual sparkfun freeday… Wouldn’t that be great?
I like sirket’s idea of one-time-use coupon codes for randomly selected registered accounts.

    part 2
*BTW: I’m an electrical engineering student too. But the items I would have bought on freeday (if I got trough) where for hobby purposes. Started studying this year while hobbying for about 5 years…:).
** Some smart things said in the comments above and below this one could help with that. I sirket’s idea of one-time-use coupon codes for randomly selected registered accounts. Would save a lot of time and server load…

I didn’t get my order trough either. Couldn’t load a single page. Not the login page anyway, must admit thats the only one I tried…
Well, it still was a nice action. I knew I had very little chance of getting trough. Only thing that’s bad is that people are reselling stuff they got for free… Ok, and that I wasted a lot of time… But that was my choice and it was worth trying.
Sure, I’m sort of a freeloader too. I registered specially for this action. But not to resell! Electronics is my hobby*, and this was a (small) chance of getting some cool electronic parts and modules for free!
I hope sparkfun made a lot of profit because of this action… …So they will repeat (an improved** version) it. Annual sparkfun freeday… Wouldn’t that be great?
