MSGEQ7 stereo mini-BOB project

I've been wanting to do a small BoB with one single audiojack (using a "headphone splitter" adaper for passthrough) and two MSGEQ7's for smaller microcontrollers like the Arduino Nano/Micro (or in my case, a DigiSpark-"shield").

It would be even smaller with the MSGEQ7N (SOIC version) IC but I can't find them anywhere so I guess that the big old DIP-package will have to do.
