These are some of the parts that I will be using for a tracking package that I am building for my solar balloons. This is something that I was building for my final project for my associates degree back in 1997, except the technology that I could afford back then was far less advanced and the package was very bulky and would likely have violated FAR 101 regulations. That project never flew but the dream lives on.
My solar balloon tracking since then consisted of me scanning a QR code attached to my balloon when I launched with the hope that someone would scan it again when they found it. Only two have been found this way, but I only have the vaguest idea about what happens in between, how far up the balloons get, etc... This will help clarify that and collect a bit of environmental data along the way. Just for fun.
This tracker will communicate with my Solar Balloon Tracking website... once I get around to rebuilding it.
