Poor quality control

If you are considering these for a class please realize that these breadboards are terrible. They do not make positive contact with Sparkfun's kit resistors in at least 80% of the holes and do not make positive contact with larger items such as chips and wires at least 10% of the time. This will be extremely frustrating for students trying to trouble shoot their circuit. I rate this product with 1 star because not only is this a problem but Sparkfun is aware of it. I had the following email exchange.

"I am going to arrange for 2 replacement breadboards. Unfortunately, these issues aren’t actually a defect. It seems to be a combination of acceptable variation in manufacturing between our different products and sometimes the combo just doesn’t work well. I do apologize for the inconvenience."

The replacement breadboards that were sent were also worthless. I purchased replacement boards made by Global Specialities that make positive contact on even the smallest leads on 100% of the holes at a similar price point to Sparkfun's boards. Until Sparkfun increase the level their quality control standards I cannot recommend this product. If different combinations of products do not work well together, I would expect a company to refrain from selling them as a kit as I purchased them.

terribly inconsistent tightness

Many holes won't snugly hold 26AWG.

I bought this one because it is smaller than the model I alsready had. It's super-convenient to use. Works perfectly.

Works good

Works good and has nice adhesive.

Standard Breadboard

Standard inexpensive breadboard. It does as advertised and works wonderfully for prototyping all your circuits.

Great for Beginners

This is a very straight forward bread board for beginners. I am new to electronics and have enjoyed dozens of basic projects. A must have for anyone getting into circuits.

It's legible!

I received a breadboard of similar size which was red clear plastic. The numbers and lettering were really a challenge to read... (These 66year old eyes aren't what they used to be.) The white breadboard is what I've been using for years. This one replaced the original and is much better. I can see the letters and numbers again. Perfect!

Great Breadboard

I used this to mount circuits to multiple batteries. I have never worked with power rails before and now I dont know if I would work without them!

It slices, it dices, it makes Julienne fries

That's a great title for a boring review. This product is just a breadboard. It's in perfect condition, not warped or anything; all the connections work (well, all the ones I've tried so far); it fits nicely in the mounting plate that came with my RedBoard; I'm very satisfied with it.

Breadboard worked as designed

We were able to complete our project. The breadboard offered the flexibility to connect our RedBoard with the RHT 03 Temp/Humidity sensor. When the humidity and or temperature reached a certain point, an LED turned on. The set-up was in a water-tight box so it is there to detect leaks or an overheated system. This is our first step to using Arduino in Underwater Robotics, more specifically, Remotely Operated Vehicles or ROVs.

Good Quality

-Excellent board -Works great -Well Built -Perfect size to stick a 4xAA Holder on the bottom

It works

The adhesive on the back is pretty strong and the breadboard works as specified, which is about all you can ask from a breadboard.

Goodie

Small enought for arduino proto-board.

Not as pictured!

It's beige, not white! Yeah, it's only a breadboard, but my application requires the pure white breadboards (as pictured) for aesthetic reasons.

These are beige-colored. Phlegm-colored. NOT WHITE.

I ordered five and I guess I'll just have to order five more because I can't use these.

Virtually unusable

Way too tight. Insertion and extraction of DIP breakouts (like teensy, Arduino pro mini, GPS etc) is very difficult and near impossible. Risk of damage to the module while inserting and removing it is high. The common application of inserting headers in order to heatsink them while soldering them to a breakout is extremely hard to accomplish without pins sliding through. Too restrictive to be of any use in our lab. I won't purchase these again.

Good value

Good little board, I liked the space between for a DIP.

Spend the extra dollar for the larger board

Larger breadboards are better! The larger one is also better quality

I'm very sorry that you are not satisfied with the breadboard. I have personally reviewed your case and the breadboard does not look to be out of spec. Some inconsistencies can be found in most breadboards and their tension when inserting devices. Your case shows a RMA was created for a return. Please follow through with that and we will assist you with a return.

A very handy item.

This is my first exposure to a modern day 'breadboard'. My experience is of the days when they really were breadboards! A very clever device.

Perfect size

All hold that I need with the medium size (not big not small). Excellent for my robot.

Good size board for in class projects

This board is the perfect size for in-class work sessions

Breadboard

Works great with the Sparkfun mounting board (and an Arduino).

Good Quality For The Price!

Very inexpensive, solid breadboard perfect for small projects!

Pretty good product

I got a bunch of these to use with a technology workshop I am doing for elementary school kids. The quality seems OK but they don't seem to work great with the thin wire resistors some kits come with. Some of the holes are fine with the thin wire, others aren't. I'd recommend using the thicker wire 1/4W resistors with these boards for reliable connections.

functional breadboard

It's a breadboard. You plug things in, they talk to each other. It does that very well. Adhesive back sticks to things. It does what it's supposed to do.

One of the best I have used !!

Over the many years that I have used a Breadboard for so many projects I have found this one from SparkFun is the best out there, for any money. The markings are clear and easy to read, the power buss markings are bright quite clear that makes mistakes impossible to make. The 400 tie points have enough room for even quite complex circuits. The interlocking tabs on the top, bottom and both sides allow for expansion if you should need more room. I liked the first one I bought a few months ago that I just received my second order, two this time. Also, this board is compatible with all the PICAXE and Arduino projects. I just would like more time to layout all the projects I have lined up. Thanks SparkFun !.

Standard solder-less breadboard is fabulous; cannot have too many !

The solder-less white bread board is the mainstay of the maker lab. I cannot have too many of these boards; I must have 28 of them laying all over the place with various projects going...

... primarily , i use these with each new SBC that I am testing for LED lab(s) and gpio(s) expansion ; often I leave them wired for weeks at a time; I recently purchased a few more because I couldn't find an empty one !

They don't work well for high frequency projects ; the interconnection capacitances are too high and at 12Mhz or above they are dead shorts ! But, for typical gpio testing and LED or relay|motor control these boards are phenomenal; great product.

Good old breadboard

My only issue, and that might just be the specific piece I received, is that the self-adhesive pad wasn’t cut to fit the size of the plastic exactly and the excess is very annoying.

Good for small projects Allows for 2 different voltages

Had a project I needed to build that needed 24 vdc in addition to 5vdc and this board made it a lot easier to build a prototype
one problem was 1/4 watt resistor wires are too tiny, had to double them to get to stay in holes Other than that it served my purpose

Inconsistent with Sparkfun Resistors

The contacts are not snug enough for standard 1/4W resistors. Resistors from the Sparkfun pack were loose and would lose connection if I didn't bend them just right.

It works great. I am always trust any product from SparkFun and my trust has been proved. TinVu

Breadboard

I love being able to layout a circuit without soldering and even test and modify the circuit as I go. Thanks

I love these. I have bought several of them.

I can not seem to get enough of these. The quality is good and I have never been disappointed.

It's a Breadboard!

It works. It holds parts and wires. It is not falling apart. The legend is readable. That's actually saying a lot, considering the sad state of a lot of other products on the planet. Oh, yeah, the price is reasonable too. I'm using mine as part of that Arduino holding plate. It's a reasonable size for doing small prototyping and testing.

Works perfect

Everyone will eventually need one of these. This is a good quality one.

Absolute necessity to use a breadboard!

And this is an exceptionally good one to use. I now have it in production for my project. That project is yet another irrigation project. This one is for Pecan trees.

Thank you!

It is a good breadboard

Color stripes help ensure + and - are not in error. Leads stay put

Great for Uno brainstorming

About the size of an Arduino Uno, great side-by-side access.

Plus, the crumpled paper packing lasted my kitten for 3 or 4 days!

Haven't had a good board like this since the Radio Shack days.

Holds components really well, not to mention connection leads. I've used it as a programming board for my ATTINY85 microcontrollers via my Arduino Uno, along with several other projects. Track Clips are still good and firm! Would definitely get another one!

Worked well for my development

Worked well for my development

Small but Powerful

Just the right size for the intro circuits lab I'm designing

Great Breadboard

Solid construction.
