SparkFun’s ISP (internet service provider) is currently dealing with degraded network performance. While this is being resolved, you may see intermittent issues on our site and we apologize for any inconvenience. Please direct any issues or questions about orders to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your patience!
A new robotics board and Arduino shield should help ease you into the weekend!
Welcome, welcome, welcome! It’s wonderful to see you back for another Friday Product Post. We have two great products to show off today, ones that we know you have been asking for. Without further ado let’s see what the Creative Technology Team has come up with for this week!
If you just want to watch the Line Follower demo video on its own, it’s posted below!
Thanks a lot guys! Now let’s show off what we have.
The SparkFun Line Follower Array is a long board consisting of eight IR sensors that have been configured to read as digital bits! We have designed the SparkFun Lin Follower Arrays to follow a dark line of about ¾ inch width or smaller (spray paint or electrical tape) on a light background. Each array features visible LEDs that point upward when the board is attached (properly) so you can see what the robot sees, brightness control right on the board, and an I2C interface for reading and power control. Here at SparkFun, the RedBot Shadow Chassis was used as a test platform but really this was designed as an add-on for almost any bot.
The SparkFun LiPower Shield allows you to connect a 3.7V single cell Lithium polymer battery which it will boost up to 5V and connect to the Arduino board’s 5V pin. We’ve successfully fixed the issues that have plagued this great shield for quite some time. We are very excited to get this into your hands so you may attach it to your next Arduino stack!
Well, that’s all we have for this week. We hope you will enjoy your new Line Follower Array and LiPower Shield should you choose to pick them up. We’ll be back next Friday with more tantalizing products. See you then!
