SparkFun Halloween Costume Contest Reminder

Don't forget to send us your blinkiest, scariest costumes for a chance at glory!

Favorited Favorite 0

Alright, boys and ghouls (I'm so sorry for that...), Halloween is just a week away. That means the date is quickly approaching to send in your SparkFun Halloween Costume Contest entry! This new contest invites you to bust out your blinkiest, scariest, most creative electronic costumes for a shot at glory. The rules are pretty simple:

  • Submit your entry by October 31, 2012 by emailing a photo and/or video of your costume and a brief explanation to marketing@sparkfun.com with the subject "Halloween Costume Contest."
  • Entries will be judged based on their creativity and engineering execution.
  • Costumes MUST contain electronics (not necessarily purchased from SparkFun). The more electronics, the better!

Nate's "mixed signal" costume just never gets old.<-

Winners will be announced on November 7, 2012. First place gets $200 in SparkFun bucks, second place gets $100 SFE dollars, and third place will receive $50 SFE dollars. If you have any question, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below. If you're looking for some inspiration, check out some of our eTextiles tutorials or Nate's tutorials about his heartbeat straight jacket or his "mixed signals" costume.

Good luck and may the best costume win!

The green light perfectly lines up. Green means go.

    • Really? Where I live yellow means speed up, green means stop, and red means only go into the intersection if you block traffic.

  • Is there a difference between bucks and dollars? Perhaps the actual 1st prize consists of 200 Sparkfun robotic male deer while 2nd and 3rd are US dollars. Now that would be awesome.

Yeah, and Robotic male deer shoot back. :-)

Okay, I need to make this comment. I don't want to, but it must be done.

    • Sarcasm doesn't work in comment posts! Makes you look like a jerk.
    • Can people stop commenting about the Arduino Due? Yes SFE finally got it on the website. I don't want to see every news post asking about the Arduino Due! All your questions can be answered at Arduino's website.
    • I dressed up as Bill from Left 4 Dead a couple years ago, and I wrote/designed a replica pipebomb circuit for it. If anyone wants it, reply back and I'll put it up on Dropbox.

This is begging for a caption.

  • This is all good but... when are you going to talk about the Arduino DUE?

    • we have it for preorder here and quite frankly, we don't know that much more about it than anyone else. We don't have a sample and don't have any more information beyond what's available to anyone else, sorry!

I don't care if I see it every year, this is the best costume.
