Arduino XBee Shield

Replacement: None. There is no direct replacement for this but you can check out our XBee Shield or XBees. This page is for reference only.

This a unique shield for the Arduino platform. This board mates directly with the Arduino USB board and allows the Arduino to wireless communicate over a modified ZigBee protocol using the popular XBee module from Maxstream. These ship with the series 2.5 radios, however the radio is removable, so any XBee module will work with the shield.

Note: Unit includes a Series 2.5 XBee module.

GPS Differential Vector Pointer

May 31, 2016

Use GPS to have two objects, a base and a target, point towards one another. This can be used to aim a directional antenna (or in the case of this project, a laser) from one object to the other object at a distance that is only limited by your ability to provide the base station with the target's GPS location.

Please add a note that indicates these ship with Series 2.5 radios. I made the mistake of ordering a Series 1 radio for the computer-side of a connection I intended to make with these. The pictures shows Series 1 but my Arduino XBee shields shipped with Series 2.5 (which is fine -- better, in fact -- I just didn't expect it).

I too made the mistake of ordering a Series 1 Xbee for the computer side of my project. A note in the description of the product that said Series 1 and Series 2 Xbees won't talk to each other would have been nice, Especially since the product picture show a Series 1 Xbee attached to it. It took 2 hours of research on the internet to find out that Series 1 and Series 2 Xbees are not over the air compatible.

    Hello everyone,
I know that this shield works fine with Arduino Duemilanove. Does it work with Arduino Mega as i saw that the pin jacks for arduino Mega are a little bit shifted as seen in its picture here on sparkfun.
    Thanks!

looks like the xbee shield's main component is just a 3.3v regulator. and some other passive components.
If i am using the 3.3v version of the adruino, can i directly use the xbee module by-passing the xbee shield.
    will it work?

Is it possible to order this shield without an XBee? It doesn't come with the one I want to use.

  • Whoa. Sorry guys. Our fault. Thanks for the feedback! Fixed now.
