Battery Holder - 18650 (PTH)

This is a PCB mount clip to hold a 18650 Lithium Ion Cell battery. Each battery holder is sold in single units, you'll need two for each battery. These work great for larger, high capacity applications where a drop-in rechargable cell is needed. These little guys are low cost and easy to use!

Note: This part can be found in the Electromechanical Eagle library under 'Battery18650'.

It seems they've been out-of-stock, since this time last year. What happened?

Hello! My name is Kate and I would love some help! I am just wondering if the pins of this product are conductive? I am hoping to attach these to a PCB and I am a little confused if the pins will be connected to power/gnd? Thank you!

Hi there, it sounds like you are looking for technical assistance. Please use the link in the banner above, to get started with posting a topic in our forums. Our technical support team will do their best to assist you.

That being said, yes, the pins are conductive as they stamped from the same piece of metal as the rest of the holder. They will share the same termination of whichever end of the battery that it is connected to. The pictures of this product should give you a general idea of how the clips would work.

Any chance of an Eagle CAD footprint? Thanks.

Alright, so the EAGLE package seems to have a weird ghost outline of one of the dimension polygons for the battery end— but it only shows up when you look at the device, if you just look at the package itself, it's not there. Any ideas?

Edit the SparkFun-Electromechanical.lbr file (any text editor). Find the package (<package name="BATTERY_18650-HOLDER">) and remove the following code:

Only one? So this is like "half" a battery holder? Seems an odd choice.

    • M-Short / about 10 years ago / 2

For a limited time only you can get 2/$1! Honestly I'm not sure why you would want just one, but maybe you lost one, or are just looking for a random piece of metal, or are just strange. Either way we now have everyone covered. :)

This is perfect! Now I can buy ONE to display my battery. Thank you!

i think more likely that someone wants 3, than they want 1. ^_^
