Knobs are a great way to finish off your project and make it easier to adjust the level of your death ray. This knob mates to a 6mm (+/- 0.3mm) shaft. The knob slides onto the potentiometer and holds tightly with a strong friction fit.
The main body of these knobs is metal with a plastic insert. The outside is knurled for precise adjustment.

\m/ BLACK METAL!!! \m/
Nicely made, however the hole is too small to accept a true .25" shaft. It is a good (tight) fit with the ~6mm shaft on the Rotary Encoder (COM-09117) shown below.
I wish there was a favorites or wish-list like section here at SparkFun to save things like this cool knob in for future purchase. I don't need any any at the moment, but don't want to forget about them ether... :)
(EDIT) Added to my wish list! hehehe
Do these come in other sizes? I have a Eurorack project that wants small, med, and large knobs. I love the look of this beast.
How deep will a shaft go in before it bottoms out?
I like the llok and feel of this knob, but I'm wondering if there are any available anywhere that dont have the position indicator line, and still fit the COM-09117 Rotary Encoder. If there are, where could I get one?
The closest thing I see for what you're asking is probably having the indicator mark on the side. Take a look at mcmaster.com or digikey.com
Got some and Love Love Love them... Where can I get the same knob in say 12mm dia? I really like this knob and want it to have a baby brother for my projects.
Is there any simple hack that will fit these onto a 6.0 mm shaft?
They're awesome, but just all my parts are metric!
is this compatible with COM-09288?
I might whack a couple of these on my next order. They are nice :)
Yep. I have one on my desk right now, they're pretty decent. Sure, it's a metal shell with plastic inside, but they feel pretty good when mounted.
