Description: This is a replacement soldering tip for our Hakko FX-888 soldering iron. This is a conical type of soldering tip. Replacing the tip is very easy - simply unscrew the shield, slip the replacement tip in, and screw the shield back on.
Note: This is the tip that ships with the FX-888.

Very easy to replace the tip on Hakko FX-888. I was skeptical about its ability to transfer heat due to its size, but that concern quickly vanished when I soldered my first wire with this tip. I even got a finer tip from Hakko and found no difference in heat transfer from either tip… must be the excellent design of the Hakko soldering station.
Been using the same tip for over 2 years of frequent soldering projects. Still going well. When used with a brass sponge they are long lasting and good at heat-sinking. Also they turn blue from the heat over time, kind of looks cool. Can’t get that from a cheap tip.
