Description: These connectors are really useful as power connectors in prototyping or in projects that are repeatedly assembled and disassembled. There are also a variety of buttons and lights that use these standard connectors.

These Female quick-disconnects are about 1/5" wide and can be crimped onto 16-14 AWG wire. Mating connectors can be found in the related items.

  • Just as a tip, it’s very difficult to get a good crimp on connectors of this type with very small wires (e.g., 22ga). An approach that I’ve used is to take a pair of wire cutters (“diagonal cutters”) and carefully remove the plastic part, then soldering the wire into the crimp area. (You can find ones that don’t have the plastic bit, but it can be difficult. I’d like to see SF add them.)

  • Are you /sure/ these are for 22-16awg wire? The datasheet says Blue is for 16-14awg, though I have fit 12awg in them before.

  • I got these to use in conjunction with PRT-11464, and it’s very kind to refer to the set as “quick disconnects” since they require so much force to attach or detach them.

  • I guess this is the correct size for the Arcade joysticks and buttons?, the ¼" is too big right?

    • FYI: I happen to have some of the Sparkfun arcade buttons (both kinds). I measured the terminals on both (with calipers), and here are the results: “Concave Button” (COM-09336): 0.187 inches - will work with 1/5" (0.2", a little big, but close enough) “Push Button” (COM-09177): 0.110 inches - way too small for 0.2" quick disconnects

    • correct, 1/5" fits the arcade buttons nicely.
