KR Sense Current and Voltage Sensor - 90A

The KR Sense 90A is a small voltage and current sense breakout board. DC current is determined by measuring a voltage drop across a parallel shunt resistor, then converted to a final analog voltage output by the INA-169. Voltage sense is accomplished by scaling to 3.3V ADC range by a precision resistor divider. This version of the sensor features a maximum voltage tolerance of 51.8 Volts at 89.4 Amps, to be exact.

Please be aware that KR Sense boards are supplied without leads or connectors. The pad sizes are large enough to accommodate 12 gauge heavy duty leads but care must be exercised when soldering. Smaller gauge leads are considerably easier to solder without creating shorts.

This product is compatible with the Attopilot 90A Voltage and Current Sensor Breakout.

3 Electrical Prototyping

Skill Level: Competent - You will be required to reference a datasheet or schematic to know how to use a component. Your knowledge of a datasheet will only require basic features like power requirements, pinouts, or communications type. Also, you may need a power supply that?s greater than 12V or more than 1A worth of current.

  • It would be a lot easier to use this if you gave Volts per Volt and Volts per Amp numbers. Instead we have to try to read it off of a fuzzy picture of a chart. A schematic would be helpful as well.

  • This is close to what i need, is there a way to modify it for 60-65v max?

  • According to Karlsson Robotics, if you want to calculate what the Vsource voltage is then you take the reading on Vout and divide 0.03691. If you want to determine what Vout should be for a source voltage of 25V you multiply so Vout=25*0.03691=0.923V The same applies to current divide the Iout by 0.0366 to find the current passing through the sensor. This appears to be different than the diagram listed as 25 volt Source Voltage would be over 1.4 Volts on Vout.
