This is a Hardware Pack for the Intel® Edison, with this set you will be provided with increased mechanical strength for stacking Blocks. Each Hardware Pack includes ten M2x3mm standoffs, six M2x3mm screws, and six M2 nuts. With this set of hardware you will be able to secure three Blocks to one Intel® Edison. Eight standoffs and four screws and nuts are used for the Blocks, while two standoffs, screws, and nuts are used for the Intel® Edison itself.

the threaded ends vary in length some fit some don't.

Recently purchased a few packs and they all fit nicely. Did not run into any issues as others have seen in the past.

These are nice brass standoffs. Unfortunately, the male portion is too long, and the Edison boards are too thin. This results in the standoffs being loose on the boards, and making the stack a bit too thick.
The solution is to use a Dremel and ViceGrips to trim off the tip of each standoff, which is a tedious solution at best. I tried to cut off about 1 cut-off wheel width. Don't forget to give it a pass with a file to clean up the threads.
Once you trim the standoffs they work fine.
Sparkfun recommends "you will need to torque the screws down". I tried that, and ended up breaking three of mine. And the standoffs weren't even tight against the PCB.

It's convenient getting the getting all of your hardware delivered at once. If you are purchasing an Edison and Sparkfun boards you might as well buy this.

I received two hardware packs recently and find the all the male threads too long. This increases gap between blocks and could result in damage to Hirose connectors. Sparkfun may please look into this.

Hey, Sparkfun! So, this hardware kit isn't too great for holding several Edison blocks together. The internal threaded parts of the standoffs are too short for the screws to fully tighten (or the threaded parts of the screws are too long). The bodies of the standoffs are also a bit wide. The edges of the standoffs actually touch the zif connector on the blocks, which makes the blocks look a bit skewed when assembled. Lastly, the nuts come DANGEROUSLY close to one of the capacitors next to the bottom-right screw hole on the Edison itself.
For a customer product based on Edison we have build over 50 stacking Blocks. The only one problem we have was when we loose somewhere a screw.
The screw part of the standoff seem overall too long.
I guess they would fit if sparkfun's edison pcb boards were thicker ...

BAD QUALITY: I bought the standoff, too.Too much money for very weak quality. Most of them are TOO long. Generally the Edison parts belongs not to a cheap prize segment, so I expect to get the best quality of screws. Also the number of the different screw parts in one package is is amazing, because to less or to much of something.
I bought standoff packs. As SRLM commented, fitness of standoffs against block boards is very loose. The screw part of standoffs is TOO long. Its length is 3 mm. It should be less than 2.5 mm. I shortened all of the standoffs with a jig saw. Then, standoffs can fit tightly. I recommend to use nuts or washers to keep the minimum length of the screw part of standoffs when you shorten standoffs.
Any tips on getting a snug fit? When I try them I can't the standoffs to actually press against the board so that they don't rattle. As the note says, I carefully tightened the standoffs as much as possible but it was still loose. I tightened more, and it snapped the bolt portion.
Won't these be a bit tight? The holes in the Edison are 2mm, leaving little or no clearance for the screws.
edit -> got some today.... the fit quite well. Now where to get this in bulk.
Why not twelve standoffs and eight of each screw and nut? The math works out funky here. I'd gladly pay five bucks rather than six for two packs, part of which I'd just lose.
Interestingly in the third picture above it looks like two packs being used with 20 standoffs leaving 8 screws and nuts left over. The Edison is held on top just by the 70-pin connector presumably because they didn't have enough standoffs. So other than a three block & one Edison use case, the math is probably going to be funky.
