EeonTex Pressure Sensing Fabric

This EeonTex fabric is a conductive, nonwoven microfiber with piezo-resistive functionality for use in dynamic sensors to map and measure pressure, bend, angle stretch and torsion. Each sheet of the EeonTex Pressure Sensing Fabric is pre-cut into 12 inch by 13 inch sheets about 0.8mm thick. This fabric is unique and perfect for anyone interested in wearables and e-textiles.

EeonTex Pressure Sensing Fabric is highly conductive with a surface resistivity of 2K Ohm/sq. Additionally, it features a dynamic range of 5g to 100kg, as well as a data acquisition rate of 500 cycles per second.

    This stuff looks very interesting but much more information please, maybe a sample project? Plus the data sheet that you link to says nothing useful at all.

    Can you cut it into small pieces? What interface?

    I am thinking about using it for an array of button sensors for a midi controller.

    I just got this, and when I connect a strip (about 1cm x 5cm) of this to a multimeter and check the resistance, the values seem to change even when nothing else is touching it. And when I turn the multimeter on and off, the resistance is very different, at least 5K ohms difference. Why is this happening and is there anything I can do to fix it? I plan to use a voltage divider and connect it to an Ardulno. Maybe that will fix the problem? Thanks.

      The resistance between two points on a surface is pretty meaningless. The only meaningful way of describing the resistance of a surface is as the area between two lines. Take two pieces of copper tape and place them perpendicular to each other so that the surface between them is a square (distance between the strips and strip length is equal). Now measure the resistance between the two strips. That's the resistance per square for that surface.

Very very good

Worked as described, just remember the resistant is determined by the length.

Very sensitive...

maybe too short range of responsivity, as for my needs.

I honestly haven't had a chance to try this fabric out yet, but given how difficult it was to get a hold of (only sold wholesale) up until now, I am ecstatic that it is being sold on, and thank you thank you thank you for retailing it.

Punch Sensor Material

I used this pressure sensitive fabric between to conductive fabric layers as a punch sensor. It easy to cut and handle and works great. I tried to sew this with a sewing machine, but it put too much pressure on the fabric. Had to sew very lightly just on each corner by hand.
