Conductive Fabric - Stretchy Weave

**Replacement: **We do not have a direct replacement for this fabric. But you might want to look at other conductive fabrics.

This is a conductive knit fabric for use in e-textiles. It is silver-plated nylon that is stretchy in both directions. It is highly conductive with a surface resistivity of < 1 ohm/sq. This is a great add-on to any LilyPad project.

If you aren't sure what to do with conductive fabrics, you have to check out the Wearable Toy Piano, as well as some of the other cool Instructables.

  • It's conductive!
  • Easily sew electronic features into your next project
  • Great for use with the LilyPad
  • 12 x 13" (304.8 x 330.2 mm)

And for this and the non-0stretchy version, how do you wash them, and will they available in larger sizes?

If don't know if you guys mind me posting this, but you can get a 52" wide version of the stuff and other fabrics here:

  • Alright quick run down until we get official care instructions. Heat will degrade the conductivity. So wash in cool water. You can use soap such as shampoo or Wool-lite. You want to try to keep a neutral PH, and be sure to avoid chlorine, or fluorine.

  • We asked for care instructions. Our supplier was very kind and sent them to us within a day or two. One problem... They are in German. We're lucky to have a German speaker here at Sparkfun (not even kidding). He is reading over the instructions, and will be sending me an interpretation. I will post this up as soon as he gets back to me.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Do you have a resistance number for this? In "per square" would be best.

    A couple quick questions:
    1) is this washable?
    2) Can/will this work as a Faraday cage?
