Micro Gripper Kit B - Hub Mount

This is the Micro Gripper Kit B, a simple robotics kit that is great for "getting a grip" on smaller robotics projects! Designed for use with any sub-micro size Hitec servo, the gripper kit is easy to assemble and requires only a Phillips Head Screwdriver. This Micro Gripper is capable of opening 2.75" wide max, has an overall body dimension of 2.6" long by 1.3" wide, and offers the 0.77" hub pattern for easy mounting on Actobotics components.

Actobotics is a robotics building system based around extruded aluminum channels, gears, precision shafts, and ball bearings. Thanks to the two standardized hole patterns, nearly all Actobotics components can be intuitively connected together. The wide range of components makes building complex electromechanical prototypes or finished projects a reality.

Note: This kit does NOT include a servo. Check the Recommended Products section below for great sub-micro size servo options.

  • Opening Width - 2.75" (69.85mm)
  • Hub Pattern - 0.77"

Micro Gripper Kit B - Hub Mount Product Help and Resources

Core Skill: Robotics

This skill concerns mechanical and robotics knowledge. You may need to know how mechanical parts interact, how motors work, or how to use motor drivers and controllers.

1 Robotics

Skill Level: Noob - You will be required to put together a robotics kit. Necessary parts are included and steps will be easy to follow. You also might encounter basic robotics components like bearings, mounts, or other hardware and need a general idea of how it goes together.

Other than the generic submicro servo in the recommended products section, what type of servo would match with this? I'm wanting something a little higher quality than that generic one, and I've tried a few Hitec servos but the spline on those didn't fit. Would it be Futaba, or something different?

So there's a slight design flaw with the mounting hub pattern of this thing. With the kit assembled and servo installed, this thing won't line up hole patterns with other actobotics stuff (at least I've tried with this: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12175 ). The servo or the arms are in the way. Not sure what the designers intended here, but the best work around I can think of is either some kind of spacer or to cut a bit off the bracket you're attaching the gripper to.

You might want to fix the title...or the description. (Kit A vs. Kit B. :-)

Don't buy this.

The online video shows it working good, but you won't get those results. I took my servo off and threw it in the trash.
