  • LilyPad Simple USB for ease of programming with my current Arduino setup and cables.
  • Accelerometer to determine type of motion and activate sparkles when the hem lifts due to twirls. Might be able to use mechanical motion sensor for this, but will be far less customizeable. Lots of fun times calibrating and playing with code until it is Just So.
  • LilyTwinkle + LilyLEDs in different colors works out 50% sparklier and 10-20% cheaper than Adafruit NeoPixels or clunkier LilyPad equivalents, also less likely to need code conflict resolution or beefier power supply than can be delivered via conductive thread (200% min price difference for beefy conductive ribbon to run NeoPixels or LilyPad Pixels, else must de-swish-ify skirt with stitched-down copper wire).
  • Temperature sensor to change light colors based on body heat changes. Will be concealed in own protected pouch near waistband.
  • 1000mAh rechargeable LiPo battery will run all night (6+hours assuming <50% sparkling time) on one charge, possibly two events without charging between. Permanent battery solution lowers operating cost of garment to near-zero. Will have its own snap-out pocket for easy connection & removal for cleaning.
  • LiPo battery charger to safely charging battery via USB at home, useable on all future projects including existing purse lights when I get LiPos for them
  • Off-switch to be concealed in hem or waistband
  • Second switch to switch between indoor light mode and low light dance floor mode, so as not to blind other dancers.
  • Test leads to check for shorts, usable on future projects
