Are these the same snaps used on the LilyPad SimpleSnap? Can they be soldered?

Any idea how much current can be passed through these?

Nope - they’re just the metal snaps. You would typically use conductive thread to connect them to other things, such as LEDs which could then light up based on, for example, whether or not a male/female snap pair is snapped together.
Could we have these with wires (solidly) attached on both ends so that they could be used as switches?
