Magic Blue Smoke Refilling Kit
Note: This was one of our April Fool's products for 2011. Sadly, it's not real.
On a recent trip to South America I made a shocking discovery. Deep in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, our team came across a rare vegetative moss. The spores of this ancient plant proved to be quite useful to us. Through specialized process, we were able to carefully extract the dust from the spores and refine them into a very fine powder. Through a serendipitous accident in our research labs, a bit of this powder was let out into the air. The plume traveled across the lab and came into contact with some broken equipment we had piled in the corner. Like magic, the equipment came to life and was revived.
We toiled day and night to find the best way to harness this awesome power. Through a proprietary procedure using our inverse tetra-grammatron phase inductance focusing screen (TGPIFS for short), we were able to easily resurrect any IC reliably. Simply place the phase ring of the TGPIFS directly over your IC, inject your smoke, and you're done!
This kit comes with a single TGPIFS, an applicator pre-filled with spore powder and is capable of resurrecting approximately 20 ICs (depending on size, complexity, and damage).
Note: Please use in a well-ventilated areas as the fumes may be harmful.

What did this retail for 7 years ago? I would like to know since I have plans for a Kickstarter similar to this.
This never had a price since it was an April Fool's Day product so it was never actually for sale.

Have you guys tried this on TQFP packages too. It might fix those fake AVR chips too.

I'm looking to automate this process with an Arduino, XBee, some servos, and other related cool items. Could I order a drum of magic smoke? Also, can you make a 5V tolerant IO version?
Is this compatible with ARM processors? I only ask because I picked up the blue smoke kit from DigiKey, but theirs doesn't support ARM.
I've heard rumors that Olimex is working on one that's compatible with OpenOCD.

What color of smoke refill do I need if the TGPIFS itself blows up?

When I let out the magic smoke from an ADC chip last week it also blew off one of the pins. Will this product help a new pin to grow in place of the missing one, or should I just use some scotch tape and a paperclip to replace it?
This could not have been more timely. A co-worker mentioned he fried a motherboard chipset in the lab. This will fit the bill! The price is right too!

Despite all you wish. You can never get the Genie back in the box. We all have tried. Good April fools joke. I had to take a second look.
Just remember every time you see the blue smoke Genie pop out make a wish. I always forget to. For some reason all that comes to mind is a four letter word.
So I will add this to my wish list.

Also, can I use it with a solar panel when the moon is out? If so, what happens to the blue smoke on a blue moon? Is it extra blue? What happens if I inhale?
I think you can purchase the magic smoke refill kit separately from any "medicinal" shop in California. Shipping may be limited though and I've heard growing your own kit is frowned on in some states.

Their Geiger counters will come in handy when they need to power up the Flux Capacitor with Uranium.

I buyed one of this and It's not working. Do you have to blow in order for the smoke to get into the IC? That would be a problem, I don't like to blow. It reminds me DWI tests.
check the specs for the TGPIFS. You will need to supply at least 150A to get it to reabsorb the smoke correctly.
Now this is annoying. I've been trying to replace black smoke for years. Besides, I'll bet the replacement blue smoke isn't even ozone friendly. Sheesh....
Do you sell refills for the powder? I'm not buying it if I have to buy a whole new kit every time I run out of powder.
