Product Overview

The MLX90640 is a fully calibrated 32x24 pixels thermal IR array in an industry standard 4-lead TO39 package with digital interface. The MLX90640 contains 768 FIR pixels. An ambient sensor is integrated to measure the ambient temperature of the chip and supply sensor to measure the VDD. The outputs of all sensors IR, Ta and VDD are stored in internal RAM and are accessible through I²C

This MLX90640 32x24 IR Array features a 55°x35° field of view with a temperature measurement range of -40°C ~ 300°C.

Please be aware that the MLX90640 requires complex calculations by the host platform so a regular Arduino Uno (or equivalent) doesn't have enough RAM or flash to complete the complex computations required to turn the raw pixel data into temperature data. You will need a microcontroller with 20,000 bytes or more of RAM. To achieve this, we recommend a Teensy 3.1 or above.
