Product Overview
The Pololu D42V55F24 is a compact synchronous step-down (buck) switching regulator that takes input voltages from 24 V up to 60 V and delivers a tightly regulated 24 V output at up to 4 A. A step-down converter reduces a higher input voltage to a lower output voltage while increasing available current and doing so much more efficiently than a linear regulator; this means less heat and better energy use in high-difference applications.
The board supports a typical continuous output current that ranges from 2.5 A to 5 A, depending on input voltage and thermal conditions. Efficiency is high—around 90% to 95%, varying with load, input, and output voltage. It operates at approximately a 400 kHz switching frequency under heavy loads, with very low quiescent current at no load.
As with other D42V55Fx regulators, it includes input reverse-voltage protection, over-current protection, thermal shutdown, and soft-start to limit inrush current. The module measures 1″ × 1″ × ~0.355″ (25.4 × 25.4 × 9 mm) and includes three mounting holes for #2 or M2 screws, along with six 0.1″ grid-compatible connections (VIN, VOUT, GND, VRP, EN, PG) and duplicated power rails for easy prototyping.
