SparkPNT Unveils GNSS Disciplined Oscillator (GNSSDO) Capable of Sub-Nanosecond Accuracy
The GNSSDO provides ultra-precise timing output and allows the reception of timing correction service AtomiChron® for accuracy better than 1ns.

SparkFun Electronics releases their first ultra-high precision GNSS timing product, the SparkPNT GNSS Disciplined Oscillator (GNSSDO). The SparkPNT GNSSDO is the perfect solution for projects that require high-precision timing (sub-nanosecond) and frequency needs in a cost-effective and durable package. The disciplined oscillator is SparkFun’s most advanced timing product, and is developed around the multi-constellation, multi-frequency, L1/L2/L5-ready mosaic-T from Septentrio.

At its core, the GNSSDO is based on the combination of Septentrio’s mosaic-T multi-constellation, multi-frequency GNSS timing receiver, Espressif’s ESP32-WROVER processor, and the Si Time SiT5358 disciplined 10MHz oscillator - all mounted on a single circuit board. Housed in a custom extruded aluminum case with machined end panels and slotted flanges, the GNSSDO is easily suited to be installed in a weatherproof enclosure or in a server rack.
Timing precision achievable with the GNSSDO:
- Time pulse precision: 5ns
- Time pulse precision with subscription to Fugro AtomiChron® (provided over L-Band): < 1ns (optional)
- Event accuracy: < 20ns

The GNSSDO comes with features that ensure both security and reliability. The Septentrio mosaic-T offers a high-precision solution for time and frequency synchronization under challenging conditions, such as during GNSS jamming or spoofing, and provides unmatched resilience thanks to its all-constellation multi-frequency capabilities and AIM+ technology. Pairing the mosaic-T with the SiT5358 Super-TCXO from SiTime guarantees the best clock frequency stability, accuracy, and holdover during a GNSS outage. The GNSSDO can be powered over USB-C, PoE, or DV input for a range of power options.
