The SparkFun LilyPad LilyMini ProtoSnap is an excellent way to start learning about interactive e-textile circuits before you even thread a needle. Right out of the box, all the included LilyPad components are wired directly to the central LilyMini microcontroller. This allows you to test the pre-programmed behaviors and understand how the circuit functions as a complete, standalone board.
Once you are ready to integrate the electronics into your fabric, each individual piece can be carefully "snapped" out of the main frame and sewn into your custom wearable project using conductive thread!
Pre-Programmed Light and Interaction
At the heart of this ProtoSnap is the SAMD11-based LilyMini, which comes pre-loaded with sample code to utilize all the connected hardware. You can easily switch between three distinct interactive modes by pressing the built-in LilyPad Button, with the central RGB LED indicating your current selection:
- White Mode: All four connected LilyPad LEDs are turned on.
- Magenta Mode: LEDs fade in and out in a breathing pattern; covering the included LilyPad Light Sensor speeds up the fade.
- Cyan Mode: LEDs remain off until the light sensor is covered, at which point they twinkle.
Please be aware that while this kit includes the necessary CR2032 coin cell battery to power the board, it does not include conductive thread or sewing needles to sew the snapped-out parts into your e-textile project.
