Product Overview
Detecting magnetic fields no longer requires complicated math or high power consumption! The SparkFun TMAG5273 Qwiic Linear 3D Hall-Effect Sensor provides high-precision data on a magnetic field's presence, strength, and direction across three dimensions. This board is perfect for applications involving magnetic proximity detection, door and window sensing, mobile rotor control, and more, all on a Standard 1-inch by 1-inch Qwiic breakout!
Precision Magnetic Tracking
At the heart of this board sits the Texas Instruments TMAG5273, capable of scaling its linear magnetic range to either ±40 mT or ±80 mT. Operating at just 2.3mA in active mode and dropping down to just 1µA in sleep mode, it's a much more economical choice for battery-powered projects than most other magnetometers on the market. The chip also features an integrated angle-calculation engine (CORDIC) with adjustable gain and offset, offloading complex math from your main microcontroller and ensuring high rotational accuracy of ±0.5 degrees.
This board is also available in a miniature 0.5-inch by 1-inch Qwiic board.

Hardware Integration
To make using and incorporating this 3D sensor as painless as possible, the breakout includes several built-in hardware features tailored for security and control systems:
- Tamper and Threshold Detection: Configure specific wake-up thresholds or magnetic tamper alerts to trigger interrupts over I2C or directly through the dedicated
INTpin. - Hardware Control: An onboard Disable button (tied to a dedicated through-hole pin) lets you instantly pause or reset operations.
- Temperature Compensation: An integrated temperature sensor keeps your magnetic readings stable across an operating range of -40°C to 125°C.
- Solderless I2C: Dual horizontal Qwiic connectors allow you to daisy-chain the board into your system without soldering, while standard 0.1-inch plated through-holes remain available for breadboard users.
Integrating this breakout gives you a highly accurate, plug-and-play solution for spatial magnetic sensing!
