Product Overview
The SparkFun OpenLog Artemis (OLA) is an open-source data logger designed for users who need to capture high-quality data without writing any code. Preprogrammed to automatically log serial data, GPS coordinates, and sensor readings to a CSV file, the OLA lets you bypass the development phase and get straight to analyzing your data.
| OpenLog Artemis without IMU Version |
| Due to ongoing supply chain constraints, this version of the OpenLog Artemis does not include the internal ICM-20948 IMU. It is functionally identical to the original version in all other respects, making it the ideal choice for projects that rely on external sensors rather than internal motion data. |
Plug-and-Play Qwiic Logging
The true magic of the OpenLog Artemis lies in its ability to instantly recognize and record data from the Qwiic ecosystem without any driver installation or programming:
- Auto-Detection: Plug in a compatible Qwiic sensor, and the OLA will automatically detect it, configure it, and begin logging data. Check the list on the right to see which boards support auto-detection.
- No Soldering: The Qwiic system eliminates the need for soldering or complex wiring, making it easy to swap sensors in the field.

Professional-Grade Internals
To ensure your data is accurate and actionable, we have equipped the board with precision timing components and flexible analog inputs:
- Precision Timing: An onboard Real-Time Clock (RTC) ensures every data point is accurately time-stamped, which is crucial for correlating datasets.
- Analog Logging: Four 14-bit ADC channels allow you to log voltages up to 2V at speeds up to 1900Hz.
Configuration & Power
While the OLA works out of the box, it is also highly configurable via an easy-to-use serial terminal over USB-C, allowing you to tweak settings and optimize power consumption for long-term deployments:
- Massive Storage: Supports microSD cards (FAT32/exFAT) up to 32GB+ for clear-text CSV logging.
- Long-Term Battery Life: With a deep-sleep current of ~18µA, a standard battery can power the device for weeks or even months, depending on your sampling rate.
- Flexible Sampling: Configure readings as fast as 500 times per second or as slow as once every 24 hours.
Future Proof
As new sensors are released, we continually update the OLA's capabilities. We have released a simple Artemis Firmware Upload GUI that lets you load the latest firmware and unlock new features without installing the Arduino IDE or hunting down libraries.
