Make one for everyone you know. EVERYONE.

July, August and September have the highest concentration of birthdays out of the entire year. Add that to back-to-school time, the start of fall, AND National Talk Like A Pirate Day (9/19), and you've got plenty of reasons to wish someone well. Why not go above and beyond the call of Hallmark duty and whip up something that will brighten up more than their day?

SparkFun's E-Textile Education Specialist Angela has finished two new tutorials that will help you take your cards from basic to brilliant, with step-by-step instructions and templates for making either a robot or a butterfly pop-up card. Sadly, we've missed National Learn About Butterflies Day (3/19) and National Robot Day (4/14), but there's no reason not to start preparing for next year.

LED Butterfly Pop Up Card

August 19, 2015

Craft an illuminated butterfly pop up card with copper tape, two LEDs, and a battery.

And if you'd like to dive deeper into the world of paper circuits (teachers, looking at you), we've also published the Great Big Guide to Paper Circuits, which covers the concepts, methods, projects and resources you need to get anyone - of any age - started.

So, in honor of National Encouragement Day (9/12) - Get to it!
