This week, MicroMod receives a new CAN Bus Function Board, and we now carry the Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 NoIR!
Hello everyone and welcome to a new Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week we have two new products to show off and we are going to start with the latest release from SparkX, the MicroMod CAN Bus Function Board! As the name implies, this new MicroMod Function Board allows you to add CAN networking to your next MicroMod project. Following that, we now carry the Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 NoIR! Let's jump in and take a closer look at both of this week's new products!
Controller Area Network (CAN) bus continues to be a popular communication standard in all sorts of applications, from passenger vehicles to lighting control and building automation. This MicroMod CAN Bus Function Board allows you to add CAN networking to your next MicroMod project. The CAN communications on this board are handled by the MCP2515 stand-alone CAN controller paired up with an MCP2551 high-speed CAN transceiver.
The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 NoIR is the latest entry in the mainstream RPi camera line-up, and does not employ an infrared filter (thus the NoIR). Built around a 12-megapixel Sony IMX708 image sensor module, Camera Module 3 offers a few key enhancements over its predecessor. Improved low-light sensitivity makes for better photos and output in situations where there's not a lot of light. The module also features powered autofocus making it easier to get a sharp picture output. Finally, the Camera Module 3 features High Dynamic Range (HDR) support expanding the range of color and contrast in the output.
That's it for this week. As always, we can't wait to see what you make. Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another! We'll be back with more new products next week so make sure to check back then. Happy hacking!
