The Qwiic Dynamic NFC/RFID Tag graduates to reds and the AWS IoT ExpressLink SARA-R5 Starter Kit gets a new version.
Hello hello and welcome to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week have have multiple new products to show off and it all starts with a new product straight from SparkX, the Qwiic Dynamic NFC/RFID Tag. This simple, EEPROM-equipped identification board packs a surprising punch when it comes to capabilities and power requirements. Following that, we have a new version of the AWS IoT ExpressLink SARA-R5 Starter Kit which provides everything you need to connect a device to AWS IoT Core over a cellular LTE-M network. Also releasing this week is a new Global Shutter Camera from Raspberry Pi and a new IPS Touch Display.
As a reminder, we are in the final days of our Teen Tech Week Sale! We're offering incredible deals with discounts of up to 30 percent off of select boards and kits but only until tomorrow, Saturday, March 11th at 11:59 p.m. MST! Make sure you check it out while you can!
Now, let's take a closer look at this week's new products!
The SparkFun Qwiic Dynamic NFC/RFID Tag features the ST25DV64KC dynamic Near Frequency Communication (NFC) / Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag IC from STMicroelectronics©. The ST25DV64KC offers 64-kBit (8-kBytes) of EEPROM memory which can be accessed over both I2C and RF (NFC)! It's a state-of-the-art tag that conforms to ISO/IEC 15693 or NFC Forum Type 5 recommendations. You can even read and write the tag's memory using NFC even while the tag is powered down or disconnected!
The AWS IoT ExpressLink SARA-R5 Starter Kit V2 provides everything you need to connect a device to AWS IoT Core over a cellular LTE-M network. The SARA-R5 module on the board supports the AWS IoT ExpressLink AT command set, which aims to make the app developer’s life easy.
Built around AWS IoT ExpressLink, the Starter Kit offers AWS IoT Core access with a pre-activated SIM card for global use already inserted in the slot. The kit includes a SARA-R5 module mounted on a SparkFun MicroMod Asset Tracker Carrier Board into which a SparkFun MicroMod processor board can be inserted, allowing the module to be used with many different microprocessors. An ESP32 Processor Board is included in the kit allowing to run examples or demo applications.
The Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera is a specialized 1.6-megapixel camera from Raspberry Pi that is able to capture rapid motion without introducing artifacts typical of rolling shutter cameras. It is ideally suited to fast motion photography and to machine vision applications, where even small amounts of distortion can seriously degrade inference performance.
The Wimaxit 1024 x 600 resolution IPS display touchscreen for the Raspberry Pi is an excellent choice for those who need more screen than the 7" Touchscreen offered by Raspberry Pi. The touchscreen supports up to a five-point touch interface and is already integrated in the screen. The controller board is included in the panel and features a way to mount a raspberry pi The display has plenty of mounting options or included feet for it to stand on it's own.
