Back in July, SparkFun took a trip to Motown to check out Maker Faire Detroit. The event was held at The Henry Ford museum, so if seeing awesome projects from hackers from all over the country isn't enough, there were also tons of amazing exhibits and cars. We had a blast! Today, we have a video showing some of the highlights and interviews from the event. Check it out:

Vimeo version can be found here.

You can also check out some awesome photos (like the one below) from our trip on the SparkFun Flickr page.

We will be heading to more Maker Faires in the future (and we'll be announcing our trips on the homepage) so look for us in a town near you. Cheers!

The question is when. Someone is going to claim they had the first Time Machine at Maker Faire, and then someone is just going to take theirs to the one before... Its just going to be a vicious cycle!

    • So true!

Will SF be coming to the NYC Maker Faire next month?

    • There will be a small contingent of SparkFun redshirts in attendance. We won't be having a booth, but we'll be there checking out all the cool stuff!

      • awesome!! just bought my tickets!!! Will you be there both days? And do you know who of the SFE crew is going?

  • GAH!!! I want to go to the next one!!! Is there ever one in New York?

Delighted to see so many i3 Detroit members in this, as you've seen, we're big fans of Sparkfun!

I'm glad you guys made it to Maker Faire Detroit, too. It's been such a blast over the past few years, having a big hackerspace in the area, and then having big events to help bring people together -- a lot of i3's current members heard about us at past Maker Faires. Now all we need is a way to reach all the people buying Sparkfun stuff at the local MicroCenter, and say "so if you need a workshop, there's this little nonprofit..." ;)
