Yesterday, we released the Thing+ Matter. Today, we take a look at it and the rest of our new products for the week!
Hello and welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics, and we are starting March of with a bang! In case you missed it: yesterday, we released the brand new SparkFun Thing Plus Matter. This IoT development board features the new Matter communication protocol that allows for consistent operation between smart home devices and IoT platforms without an Internet connection, even from different providers. Following that, we have the new USB-C Host Shield for Arduino. This add-on board is an update from our previous USB-A shield that brings it up to the new industry standard of USB-C. We then wrap the week with a new RPi lens, Nicla Voice board from Arduino, and a new Inventor's Kit from Kitronik. Now, let's take a look at all of this week's new products!
The SparkFun Thing Plus Matter is the first easily accessible board of its kind that combines Matter and SparkFun’s Qwiic ecosystem for agile development and prototyping of Matter-based IoT devices. The MGM240P wireless module from Silicon Labs® provides secure connectivity for both 802.15.4 with Mesh communication (Thread) and Bluetooth® Low Energy 5.3 protocols. The module comes ready for integration into Silicon Labs' Matter IoT protocol for home automation. SparkFun's Thing Plus development boards are Feather-compatible and include a Qwiic connector for easy integration into our Qwiic Connect System for solderless I2C circuits.
The SparkFun USB-C Host Shield contains all of the digital logic and analog circuitry necessary to implement a USB peripheral/host controller with your Arduino. This means you could use your Arduino to interface with and control any USB 2.0 compatible device - thumb drives, digital cameras, BT dongles, and much more!
The 22.86 x 22.86mm Nicla Voice allows for easy implementation of always-on speech recognition on the edge, because it integrates Syntiant’s powerful NDP120 Neural Decision processor to run multiple AI algorithms, leveraging bio-inspired, advanced machine learning to automate complex tasks. Nicla Voice offers onboard Bluetooth® Low Energy connectivity to easily interact with existing devices, and is compatible with Nicla, Portenta and MKR products.
On top of that, Nicla Voice comes with a comprehensive package of sensors: in addition to its microphone, it features a smart 6-axis motion sensor and a magnetometer, making it the ideal solution for predictive maintenance, gesture/voice recognition and contactless applications.
The Kitronik Inventor's Kit for the Raspberry Pi Pico offers the perfect introduction to physical computing with the Pico. This Inventor's Kit contains everything you need to complete 10 exciting experiments and the included booklet walks you through every step of each. Note: The Pico is not supplied with this kit, a pre-soldered one can be obtained separately here.
The M12 Mount 12 MP 8mm Lens for the Raspberry Pi HQ Camera Module M-12 produces a 12MP picture with a 56° field of view in a 1in image format and is easily interchangeable using the thumb screw and adapter included with the Pi HQ Camera Module. This lens excels in use for portraits and machine vision applications.
That's it for this week. As always, we can't wait to see what you make. Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another! We'll be back with more new products next week so make sure to check back then. Happy hacking!
