Hello and welcome to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week we have a few new products to showcase, starting with the brand new ESP32-S2 WROOM Thing Plus. This new Thing Plus addresses some of the security concerns plaguing the IoT community, while providing plenty of room to grow your project via WiFi connectivity! Following the new ESP32-S2 WROOM board, we have two new audio boards - one from SparkX and one for your Raspberry Pi Zero. We round out the day with a sticker tag sheet for your Digilent Discovery 2. The SparkFun ESP32-S2 WROOM Thing Plus is a highly-integrated, Feather form-factor development board equipped with a 2.4 GHz WiFi System-on-Chip (SoC) from Espressif. The ESP32-S2 WROOM module addresses the security flaws in the original ESP8266 and ESP32 by featuring transparent external flash and RAM encryption, secure boot features allowing only signed firmware, as well as included HMAC and Digital Signature modules that use software inaccessible keys to generate SHA-MAC and MAC signatures! With the ESP32-S2's IoT and connectivity based application focus, this board provides a robust option for connected projects and applications. Qwiic Sound Trigger

The Qwiic Sound Trigger is based on the VM1010 from Vesper Technologies and the TI PCA9536 GPIO expander. The VM1010 is a clever little device that can be placed into a very low power "Wake On Sound" mode. When it detects a sound, it wakes up and pulls its TRIG (DOUT) pin high. The VM1010 can be placed into "Normal" mode by pulling the MODE pin low; it then functions as a regular microphone. The analog microphone signal is available on the AUDIO (VOUT) pin. All of this happens really quickly, within 50 microseconds (much faster than a capacitive MEMS microphone), so you don't miss the start of the audio signal.


Raspberry Pi IQAudio Codec Zero

The IQaudio Codec Zero is a Raspberry Pi Zero-sized audio I/O HAT. It delivers bi-directional digital audio signals (I2S) between Raspberry Pi Zero and its onboard Dialog Semiconductor DA7212 codec. Codec Zero supports a range of input and output devices, from the built-in MEMS microphone to external mono electret microphones and 1.2 W, 8 Ω mono speakers.


30-Pin Flywire Labels for the Analog Discovery 2

This sticker sheet provides 30 plastic labels for the 30 pins on the Digilent Analog Discovery 2 flywires. Simply take the appropriate label off the sticker sheet, and apply it to the correct wire - no more searching through 30 wires for the correct one.
