We've teamed up with MikroElektronika to release two new mikroBUS capable boards as well as hundreds of Click boards!
Welcome back to another (and quite auspicious) Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week we are beyond excited to, finally, announce our new partnership with MikroElektronika! Starting today, we will be adding new products from the MIKROE ecosystem, which will continue over the course this year, to provide full support for each product (that's over 1000 new products, people). And to help incorporate these new boards into our catalog, we've developed two new SparkFun Originals with mikroBUS sockets, allowing them to interact and be used in conjunction with our Qwiic-Connect System, MicroMod, as well as the RP2040 from Raspberry Pi! We have a lot of new terminology that some of you may not be aware of, so we've written up a full page to help explain everything you need to know about the boards. Now, let's cut to the chase and take a closer look at all of this week's new products!
The SparkFun MicroMod mikroBUS Carrier Board takes advantage of the MicroMod, Qwiic®, and mikroBUS™ ecosystems, making it easy to rapidly prototype with each of them, combined. The MicroMod M.2 socket and mikroBUS 8-pin header provide users the freedom to experiment with any Processor Board in the MicroMod ecosystem and any Click board™ in the mikroBUS ecosystem, respectively. This board also features two Qwiic connectors to seamlessly integrate hundreds of Qwiic sensors and accessories into your project.
The SparkFun RP2040 mikroBUS Development Board is a low-cost, high performance platform with flexible digital interfaces featuring the Raspberry Pi Foundation's RP2040 microcontroller. Besides the Thing Plus or Feather PTH pin layout, the board also includes a microSD card slot, 16MB (128Mbit) flash memory, a JST single cell battery connector (with a charging circuit and fuel gauge sensor), an addressable WS2812 RGB LED, JTAG PTH pins, four (4-40 screw) mounting holes, our signature Qwiic connectors, and a MikroBUS socket.
Now that you've seen what we've made to support the new Click boards™ in our catalog, let's cover a small sample of the boards that come from MikroElektronika, starting with this: The MIKROE Arduino Uno Click shield is an extension for Arduino Uno or any other Arduino-compatible board. It's a simple shield with two mikroBUS™ host sockets, allowing you to connect more than 750 different types of Click boards™ to the Arduino. Quickly add functionalities like GSM, GPS, WiFi, ZigBee, Bluetooth, or thunder detection, proximity and color sensing and so on.
The MIKROE GPS Click is a compact solution for adding GPS functionality to your device. It carries the u-blox LEA-6S high-performance position engine. The click is designed to run on a 3.3V power supply and communicates with the target MCU through UART or I2C interface.
The MIKROE WiFi PLUS Click is a compact solution for adding WiFi communication to your project. The click features MRF24WB0MA – 2.4GHz, IEEE std. 802.11 - compliant module from Microchip, as well as MCW1001 companion controller with on-board TCP/IP stack and 802.11 connection manager.
The MIKROE Compass 4 Click is a compact add-on board that can measure the three-axis magnetic field that is perfect for implementation in applications such as electric compasses. This board features AK09915, a complete three-axis magnetic sensor with signal processing from AKM. An I2C or SPI protocol can be used for obtaining the sensor measurement data of the magnetic field. The main feature of the sensor is the capability to measure magnetic fields within the full-scale range of ±4912 μT, with a sensitivity of 0.15 µT per LSB, resolution at 16bits, and a built-in Noise Suppression Filter (NSF), enabling high measurement accuracy for electronic compass applications. This Click board™ is suitable for applications such as an electrical compass, position sensing, general magnetic field measurement, and more.
The MIKROE Secure Click carries the ATECC508A cryptographic coprocessor with secure hardware-based key storage. The Click is designed to run on either 3.3V or 5V power supply. It communicates with the target microcontroller over I2C interface.
Need more additional memory? We’ve got just the thing for you - MIKROE microSD Click. It features a microSD card slot for microSD cards used as a mass storage media for portable devices. microSD Click is designed to run on 3.3V power supply. The industry standard SPI interface ensures simple communication at high data rates. Use it for reading or storing data like music, text files, videos and more.
The MIKROE Accel 15 Click is a compact add-on board that contains a longevity acceleration sensor. This board features the BMA490L, a high-performance 16-bit digital triaxial acceleration sensor with extended availability of up to ten years from Bosch Sensortech. It allows selectable full-scale acceleration measurements in ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g in three axes with a configurable host interface that supports both I2C and SPI serial communication and with intelligent on-chip motion-triggered interrupt features. Intelligent signal processing and evaluation in the accelerometer ASIC enables advanced gesture recognition for numerous industrial IoT applications where low power consumption is vital. This Click board™ is suitable for home appliances, power tools, and other industrial products whose lifetime is essential.
Finally, the MIKROE Temp&Hum 15 Click is a compact add-on board that contains the 4th generation of best-in-class SHT humidity sensing solution from Sensirion. This board features the SHT40, a high-accuracy, ultra-low-power 16-bit relative humidity and temperature sensor. It provides constant temperature accuracy, up to 0.1°C, and shows its best performance when operated within the recommended average temperature and humidity range of 5-60°C and 20-80%RH. The fully calibrated sensor offers linearized digital output, NIST traceability, and I2C Fast Mode Plus. It is reflow solderable and operational in condensing environments. This Click board™ is an ideal solution to be used in various temperature and humidity-related applications.
That's it for this week. As we stated, the MIKROE boards that we are listing on this page are just a sample of the boards we are carrying in our catalog, so be sure to head over to our MIKROE Page to see the rest!
