Silicon Junkies and Solid State Depot - Red Bull Creation Contest

Check out this project from Boulder's local hackerspace and our very own Joel Bartlett.

SparkFun Engineer Joel Bartlett (of Engineering Roundtable fame) is one of the "founding fathers" of Boulder's hackerspace Solid State Depot. Recently, a group of Solid State members known as the "Silicon Junkies" built an installation for the Red Bull Creation contest.

The project is a pretty slick LED art installation that is interactive - users can control the lights through their smartphones. The installation was the center piece of Solid State Depot's grand opening. One of the requirements for the Red Bull Creation Contest is to use the Red Bull TurBull Encabulator, which you can spot right in the middle of the installation. You can see the project in action here:

You can check out the rest of the entries at this site, and of course, vote for Solid State Depot (but only if you feel so inclined).
